Body Conditioning & Stretch

Our Body Conditioning & Stretch class is designed specifically for dancers aged 15 and up who want to strengthen their bodies while improving flexibility and overall awareness. This class combines focused conditioning exercises with targeted stretching to support the physical demands of serious dance training. Classes are $26 per hour.
The conditioning segment concentrates on building core strength, muscular endurance, and stability—key elements that enhance posture and control. These exercises help older teens and adults develop the power and balance necessary for more challenging movements and to reduce the risk of injury.
Stretching is carefully integrated throughout the class, focusing on lengthening muscles and increasing flexibility in important areas such as the hips, hamstrings, and back. Students learn safe techniques for both dynamic and static stretches to improve range of motion and aid muscle recovery after intense rehearsals or workouts.
By combining conditioning and stretch, this class provides a well-rounded physical foundation for dancers 15 and older. It promotes healthy alignment, builds resilience, and nurtures both physical strength and mental focus, making it an essential part of advanced dance training.
Character
Our character dance program is designed for advanced dancers ages 12 and up and is integrated into the majority of our company classes. Taught by experienced instructors with deep expertise in this unique form, the program introduces students to a range of traditional European folk dances adapted for the stage, such as the fiery Spanish flamenco, elegant Russian waltz, lively Hungarian czardas, and graceful Polish mazurka. These vibrant styles challenge dancers to explore diverse rhythms, footwork patterns, and cultural nuances. Classes are $26 per hour.
Through character dance, our students enhance their strength, coordination, and mobility while deepening their artistry and musicality. They learn to use expressive movement and theatrical elements to convey emotion and storytelling through dance, developing a commanding stage presence and dynamic performance quality.
At Bayview School of Ballet, we view character dance as an essential component of a well-rounded ballet education. By incorporating this rich and dynamic style into our advanced curriculum, we aim to broaden our dancers’ technical vocabulary and provide them with the tools they need to succeed artistically and professionally in both classical and contemporary contexts.
